A Long Break

After a long break from homeschooling I am back. Public high school just isn’t working for my son. So this week we enrolled him in The Laurel Springs School, an accredited online high school. I will be letting you know how it goes! So far they have been extremely responsive to our needs and are helping us make the best plan for my son to succeed in high school. The adventure continues . . . . .

  1. I’m interested in how you like Laurel Springs? We are moving to Brooklyn from Oregon and I’m planning to homeschool/online school our 10th grader this first year and possibly until graduation. I’ve been most impressed by Keystone and Laurel Springs, but would love to hear your experience.

Laurel Springs has been great. Since they are an accredited private school I have not had to register my son as a homschooler, which saves me paperwork and bureaucratic hassles. They have been very responsive, in fact they call me before I can call them if there is an issue. They are working with me to customize my son’s english and math classes, since he has challenges in those areas. His study work/homework is customized to his needs. Whatever he gets wrong is followed up with clear explanations from the teacher and additional work to correct the specific problem areas. The amount of work seems to be appropriate too. I really have no complaints and Laurel Springs has helped reduce the amount of stress involved in educating a child wth learning disabilities. I hope he can continue and finish high school with them.
